Heart Attack Symptoms
Heart Attacks - know what to look for.
Women often have different symptoms of heart disease from men. As with men, women's most common heart attack symptoms are chest pain or discomfort.
But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly:
- shortness of breath
- nausea/vomiting
- and back or jaw pain.
The chest pain may feel like indigestion but if the symptoms do not go away in 20 minutes, it is essential to dial 111.
Remember - a hospital would rather have people come in and be mistaken about a heart attack, than come in too late. Dial 111 and don't attempt to drive to the hospital, if it is a heart attack - minutes do matter.
